Telinco had temporarily stopped
accepting new customers when last checked. This is a
good sign. There is nothing worse than an ISP whose
customer base builds up quicker than their
facilities. Stopping new signups guarantees that
existing customers will still get a reasonable level
of service. We wish them well.
Worth a check to see if they're
accepting new customers yet.

Virgin was one of the first
paid-for ISP's to go free. They already have a portal
which they no doubt hope will attract valuable
advertising to be viewed by thousands of new
customers. Existing Virgin customers stopped paying
charges on 1 April 1999.
And now a UK daily newspaper gets
in on the act. They're offering free webspace as well
as internet access. There are rumours that the portal
might be a little tacky....but we're sure the Sun
would never stoop so low. Note that the portal is
only available to customers who have dialled in via
the currantbun's access number.
