and his site. Resolutions are modest at around 600 x 400.
Free for both personal and commercial use, Freeimages.co.uk have a
professional looking site with more than 2500 original stock photos
available to download in 14 different categories. You can use them in
almost any way you want, short of re-distributing them. All they ask
in return is that you put a link to them - text, button or banner -
if you're using a shot on a website. Otherwise you just credit them
on whatever you are creating. Picture resolutions are quite high at
around 1600 x 1200 or 1200 x 900 pixels.
iSyndicate have launced a new service providing free
content and photos. You simply link to content from your site. The material
is supplied by iSyndicate and their various associates.
ClipArtDownload.com is offering 10,000 clipart images and 100,000 web
images for free. Simply click on New User and enter your name and e-mail
address, there is nothing more to it. You will then be emailed a password
that will give you access to 10,000 of the best looking WMF images around.
If you sign up for Link Exchange
or one of the many other banner exchange programmes you'll suddenly
find you need a decent-looking banner. The Banner Generator lets you
design your own online. Your finished banner can then be downloaded
from their server for future use.
The Animation Factory is full of free animated gif files
(non-commercial use only). They include all types of webmaster graphics
(buttons etc) as well as almost every category of image you can think
of!
Andy's Art Attack not only provides free buttons, backgrounds
and gif animations, this useful site also gives tips on creating your
own using Photoshop & Illustrator.
Matrix Vault's Pixel Warehouse has a good range of free
graphics, including web-specific graphics (icons, bars, buttons, bullets,
separators & animated gifs) and more general gif art.
Alphabet Connection sums itself up nicely. This site
specialises in letters as graphics rather than parts of font files.
Once you've loaded more than one or two applications onto your system
you can be sure that nobody has the same font selection as you! The
only way you can be certain of your visitors seeing letters the same
way as you do is for them to be graphic images. Note though that graphics
are much bigger files than plain HTML text so slower to download - and
some people can't see them at all. - Use alt text tags!
Free themed page counter, statistics
& message service from Pagecount. They incorporate a banner ad into
the counter which has buttons for getting a free counter & leaving
a message.
