There are loads of free answering machine messages available on this site. The messages are organised into different themes, including comedy, adult, movie, TV & celebrity. (Mind you quite a few of the "celebrities" seem to be not too successful sound-a-likes.)

Just-dial.com runs a weekday-only service that lets you make weekday international calls selected countries at national call rates. Simply call 0870 794 0000 and dial the required number at the prompt. There are no additional charges, bills or pre-payment. Destinations available are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA.
International calls at local rate (UK only)
Alpha telecom is another company with a service that lets you make international calls selected countries at national call rates.
Sign up with eFax and you'll be given a phone number for people to send you faxes on. You have to download some special software because the fax images are specially compressed before being emailed to you. NB Also see Yac.
STPC help you send free faxes via the Internet. Patchy coverage in some countries but all of the following are covered in full:
Botswana, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Singapore, Sweden, the Nederlands, San Marino & the UK.
In addition to free SMS messaging, see below, Lycos also let you send free MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) messages. With MMS you can you can combine pictures, sound, and text in a single message.
Send Free SMS messages (Europe only)
It's free, it's fast and it also works. For instance visit Lycos UK and you can quickly and easily send an SMS messages You do now have to having to register before using the service though.

Visit Breathe.com's home page, register and you can then quickly and easily send SMS messages to GSM mobile phones.
Cheap mobile phone calls (UK only)
If you own an Orange, One2one or Virgin phone, you can get cheap calls (5.3p/2.9p a minute).
Free Email and internet access (US only)
Install Juno's special software and your PC can send and receive Internet email for free.
By signing up free to Net2Phone, US users can make free PC to PC calls via the Internet. They can also call PC to US phone for free (charges after first 2 min).
Non-US users can make cheap international calls but get billed for all calls even PC to PC ones!
N.B. You must have a sound card and microphone to use this service!
UK GSM rental-free mobile phone contracts with free call allowances!! (ie SIM cards for use in an existing GSM phone). Cost is around £40 for one year, with no line rental charge and a free call allowance each month! Do check times for off-peak calls as they can vary with these offers (standard off-peak times are 7pm-7am weekdays + all day Saturday & Sunday) Second hand phones can often be obtained from a friend or relative who has a new one. Failing that they can be bought from £45 - see Exchange & Mart)
Scancom are another company offering card-only digital mobile phone contracts.
RS Communications are also offering cheap UK GSM phone contracts.
Cybertel are giving away 0800 phone numbers. You get charged 6.9p per min peak, 5.9p per min off peak for incoming calls with a minimum charge of £5/month. They also provide 0870 and 0906 numbers. The latter are available at different charge rates of up to £1 a minute. You get to keep some of that, although you'll need to ring them to find out how much.
Yac seem to think they've invented a unique new service - a free personal number which will allow callers to be automatically diverted to a fixed or mobile phone. OK I'm being unfair. They also give you a fantastic fax and voicemail to email service. (NB Voicemail messages appear as audio file attachments, not text!) Also there's a call screening facility that routes calls from selected numbers direct to voicemail.
