You get a full set of 3.52x5" or 4x6" prints on Kodak paper along with your negatives. Your photos also go online to share with family and friends. After the free roll, developing starts at $2.99 per roll, plus $1.99 per roll for shipping and handling. Online viewing and sharing is free plus you get unlimited storage for online photos.

Free colour business cards

VistaPrint will give you 250 business cards absolutely free! They're "top-quality, full-colour business cards printed on premium 100lb. (271gsm) paper stock". All you have to pay is for shipping and handling.

Shipping costs are $5.10 for US destinations and £5.95 to the UK but they do ship worldwide. The cards are ideal for personal and social use - business users might prefer to pay £6.99/$9.99 extra for a blank back. Why? Download free games from Freeloader.com. The only snag is that premium games, like GTA2, are for subscribers only (and new subscriptions are currently suspended).

Here's a site with a large number of IT related online courses brought to you in conjunction with Freeskills.com.. Subjects covered range from beginners guides to HTML, through Microsoft Excel, Word to SQL server programming.

Free Classified Ads (UK only)

Preloved Classifieds is a website where people can buy and sell their second-hand goods for free. (They're also currently running a free prize draw competition to give away a £1000 shopping spree.) They run an affiliate scheme for webmasters, currently paying 7p a click.

Travlang

Free foreign language lessons are on offer from TravLang. They even have audio samples (in .AU format) so you can hear how to pronounce phrases.

AltaVista Babelfish

As all followers of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy will know you can get instant translations by sticking a Babelfish in your ear. Not to be outdone AltaVista have come up with an improvement - theirs translates web pages.

FreeTranslation.com

FreeTranslation.com offer translation of text or web pages between 11 language pairs. Unsurprisingly they also have a wide range of paid-for services.

Worldlingo translation services

Offer foreign language versions of your web pages at no cost. WorldLingo have a live online translation facility to and from 10 different languages.

Mendez iTranslator online

Another source of free online translation. Translation is between any of 16 language pairs. You have to have or register for a Microsoft .NET Passport to use the service.

Free online books

Project Gutenberg is the place to go for a huge range of downloadable books. All the great classics and many historical documents are available for download as Project Gutenberg etexts (basically straight ASCII text files).

City.Net

Planning a trip abroad? City.Net have loads of information about almost everywhere in the world. The detail extends to safety assessments and tips on which parts of a city to avoid. (Even Copenhagen has areas where it's wise to hang onto your wallet!)

Download free .MP3 audio files from MP3.com and you can play them from your hard disk. They're almost CD quality & a great way to try out unfamiliar music before lashing out on a CD.
